Salarify Pay is an Earned Wage Access (EWA) solution that allows employees to access their earned wages flexibly without waiting for the traditional payday. Think of Salarify Pay as a financial safety net; just as a safety net catches you when you fall, Salarify Pay is there to provide stability, allowing you to access your hard-earned wages even between paydays.

Challenge

Why should we wait an entire month to receive the compensation for our hard work? Despite the rapid pace of digital and financial solutions in recent years, the payroll system still operates on century-old models, treating wages as a static entity. However, this level of staticness no longer aligns with changing consumer habits, where the demand for dynamism and instant service dominates.

Supporting Financial Well-being through Digital Design

Digital solutions that support financial well-being empower employees to manage their finances swiftly and conveniently, regardless of location and time. This convenience also means that more employees will leverage these opportunities, leading to greater financial awareness and confidence. Furthermore, digital solutions can be easily customized to cater to users with diverse financial goals, offering personalized advice and recommendations.

The Importance of Mobile Applications

For financial products, mobile applications play a crucial role. They offer greater convenience and accessibility, often providing a superior user experience with intuitive design, customizable content, and notification settings. Additionally, mobile apps can offer features not readily available in web applications, such as biometric authentication for enhanced security and integration with other mobile functions like push notifications and GPS. Overall, using a mobile app for financial products can deliver a user-friendly and convenient experience, leading to greater engagement and ultimately better financial outcomes.

Our Approach

Beyond traditional UX/UI design, we always emphasize data-driven design. We examine various metrics to identify critical areas for optimization, aligning them with key performance indicators (KPIs). During the design process, we also consider behavioral patterns (biases) to create a more user-centric experience.

Our core philosophy is that users tend to ignore applications that ignore them. Therefore, understanding users is paramount to creating the best experience. To craft the optimal user experience, it is essential to identify potential users and understand their needs, characteristics, problems, habits, goals, and motivating factors.

The Revamp of Salarify Pay

For Salarify Pay, the goal was to optimize an existing product and introduce new features. Through user research, we identified the segments whose needs were critical to consider during the design process.

We identified areas for optimization based on user feedback, usability audits, interaction patterns, and existing research data. Using this information, we developed new user journeys that aim to simplify and clarify user actions.

An information architecture was created to illustrate which information and features would be available on each interface.

Analyzing data from research, we identified features that users were missing and that could enhance the usability of the previous product. For these features, we conducted best practice research to ensure we applied industry standards and well-established market solutions. This was important not only to create a familiar interface for users but also to arrive at the development phase with plans that had been successful among users.

We implemented these steps in close collaboration with developers, taking technical considerations and possible limitations into account.

Finally, during the UI design phase, we incorporated branding elements, placing significant emphasis on ensuring visual consistency with a youthful, dynamic brand. This is how Salarify Pay attained its final form.

Key Features

Transactions

A well-designed transaction list should be easy to scan, customizable, and filterable. List items should make transactions easily identifiable, with all data presented in the correct hierarchy.

Balance

In Salarify Pay's list, the current balance is prominently displayed. To facilitate transaction identification, greater emphasis is placed on the amount, spending location, spending category, and date. Clicking on individual list items provides more information about the transaction, and this is also where users can access the security reporting feature.

Transfer & Withdraw

The "New Transaction" button occupies a prominent position on the interface. It is crucial that when users initiate a transfer, they can easily see the current balance, clarify where the transfer is going, and minimize the likelihood of entering an incorrect amount. Quick buttons are provided on the interface to facilitate these processes.

In the event of any errors during the process, it is essential to inform the user promptly and provide clear instructions on what needs correction to complete a successful operation.

Key Features

People in different countries and cultures have varying habits, preferences, and expectations that designers must address.

The most significant differences come in the form of localization and regulatory requirements. Localization requires accurate translation and managing text lengths to ensure that no text overflows from buttons. Regulatory requirements can sometimes necessitate complete feature redesign.

Salarify targeted the Hungarian, Italian, and American markets. During the design process, we paid significant attention to understanding these countries' markets and users, adapting certain features to comply with local regulations.

Conclusion

I and the team at Pine Design played a pivotal role in revitalizing the Salarify Pay application. Through extensive research, user-centric design, and attention to detail, we transformed the existing product into a user-friendly and secure financial tool that meets the needs of users across different countries and cultures. The redesigned Salarify Pay now offers a seamless and efficient user experience, promoting financial well-being for its users.
